UPSC IAS/IFS Pre Online Form 2025 Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
  • Final-Year Students: Eligible to apply, but they must complete their degree before the Mains exam.
  • Any Discipline: For IAS, a degree in any stream is accepted. For IFS, specific subjects are required.
  • Equivalent Degrees: Degrees equivalent to a bachelor’s, as per government norms, are also accepted.
  • Proof of Qualification: Candidates must provide valid documents as proof of their educational qualification.

Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)

  • The Prelims is the first stage of the selection process, consisting of two papers:
    • Paper 1 (General Studies): Covers history, geography, polity, economy, environment, science, and current affairs.
    • Paper 2 (CSAT – Civil Services Aptitude Test): Tests comprehension, logical reasoning, and quantitative aptitude (qualifying in nature).
  • Both papers are objective (multiple-choice questions) and serve as a screening test.
  • Marks obtained in Prelims are not counted in the final merit list.

Mains Examination (Descriptive)

  • The Mains Exam consists of 9 descriptive papers, including:
